We've tried to cover off everything you need to know about a career with Merlin within the site, but we're also keen to pull all the key information into one place. So, here's an ever-growing list of helpful answers to the questions we're most commonly asked.

 

How do I apply for a position?

Details of our current vacancies can be found via the Job Search & Apply section of this site.

 

Click on any of the roles in which you are interested and you will then be able to read more about the role. If the job sounds like the one for you, click on the ‘apply now' button. You will then be able to upload your resume and we’ll go from there! 

 

Our vacancies change frequently, so please don't give up if your dream job isn't available at this exact moment.

What happens once I apply?

As soon as we receive your application, you will automatically be sent an email, confirming we have it.

 

We will then contact you again within 14 days of the closing date to confirm whether your application has been successful. 

 

We use an online system to manage all of our applications so you will find the majority of correspondence you receive will be by email, however we assure you we have a busy team of recruiters behind the scenes at each site reading your applications and looking for our future Merlin stars!

Will I know if I have been unsuccessful once I have applied?

Yes - we will contact you either way to confirm whether or not you have been successful.

What can I expect from Merlin's selection process?

As the roles we offer are incredibly varied, so too are the selection processes.

 

As a guide, it may include a combination of the following:

 

  • interview
  • assessment centre
  • presentation
  • personality profiling
  • general intelligence assessment

 

All of the above are designed to help us effectively assess whether we're a good fit.

What happens at an assessment centre?

Whilst this will vary from role-to-role, you will be required to complete short exercises in teams and attend an interview.

 

This is the ideal opportunity for you to find out more about what it is like to work for us, and for us to find out more about you.

 

While you may be nervous about the prospect, rest assured they're designed to be enjoyable.

What is the dress code during the selection process?

You should dress in an appropriate manner for the role you're applying for. If in any doubt, smarter is better.

 

This is an interview after all, and you never get a second chance to make a first impression.

What happens after the selection process?

We assess all the applications again, alongside everyone's performance in the interviews, and then will contact you with the outcome, whether you have been successful or not.

What is the dress code at work?

The dress code varies depending on where in the business you work.

 

For office-based roles, you will be expected to dress in a smart/casual manner. Within certain attraction-based roles however, you may be required to wear a uniform. In some roles you may even get the chance to wear a costume!

What will my shifts be?

Shifts vary according to the position and department. These will be agreed at the recruitment stage.

Is it a very formal environment to work in?

We firmly believe that if you enjoy your time working here, our customers are much more likely to have an enjoyable time too!

 

Without a doubt the roles can be very hard and demanding - it takes a special kind of person to be as friendly and positive at the end of the day as they are at the beginning.

 

Our teams of staff are welcoming, committed, and believe in supporting each other to get the job done.

 

Remember there will be plenty of people in the same boat as you! Additionally, all of our managers operate an open door policy, so there's always someone to talk to if you need to.

What is the company social scene like?

All areas of Merlin have their own social clubs and hold social events throughout the year.

 

Merlin people are famously fun - we work hard and play hard!

Will I get free tickets?

Yes you will.

 

All our team are issued with a pass enabling them, their friends and family to experience many of our fabulous attractions and theme parks after successful completion of an introduction period.

Do I need a work permit or visa to work for you?

You will need to have the right to live and work in Australia (or New Zealand for Kelly Tarlton’s).

 

We occasionally have a small number of roles which may offer visa support, but this is stated explicitly on the job advert.
